Have an electrostatic painting-related question? We have the answer. Check out these FAQs and give us a call today for more information!

  • Why use EPR?

Since 1999, EPR has provided consistent, quality workmanship throughout the United States. We achieve this with local staff and the ability to utilize personnel and manufacturing resources from our five locations to complete your electrostatic painting project.

EPR employs a full-time Technical Director who manages regulatory compliance for all EPR locations and conducts research and testing of new products to continually reinforce EPR’s leadership role in the industry.

  • What colors and options are available in paint, laminates, and fabric?

EPR has matched most manufacturers' colors in several paint types. Custom color matching is available in a variety of coatings and most can be applied in a standard, metallic, or textured finish.

Wilsonart, Formica, Pionite, Nevamar, and Laminart are some of the laminate suppliers used for manufacturing. Burch, Stinson, and Guilford fabrics are just a few of the fabric suppliers used by EPR. Most manufacturers' color choices are available. EPR can also purchase proprietary fabrics from the manufacturer. For more information about our options and our electrostatic painting methods, reach out to us today!

  • Can EPR provide certificates of insurance?

You can have peace of mind when we come out to complete your electrostatic painting project. EPR carries proper liability, auto, and workers compensation insurance coverage and can provide certificates of insurance for any applicable states.

  • What is EPR’s warranty?

EPR stands behind all of our electrostatic painting products and services. Our management and staff do their best to resolve any problems promptly. Once it has been determined that there is a defect in any product or workmanship, EPR makes the repair or replacement a high priority. We are sure to correct the problem quickly and to our customers' satisfaction. Since the warranties may vary for on-site painting, shop painting, laminate, and upholstery work, warranties are available upon request.

  • Does EPR work with general or painting contractors and OEM distributors?

EPR works with painting contractors, general contractors, office furniture dealers, and OEM distributors as a subcontractor. We consider these clients wholesale customers. If you have additional questions about who we work with to offer exceptional electrostatic painting services, then do not hesitate to call us!

  • Where does EPR work?

EPR is the nation’s largest electrostatic painting company. We have five locations around the country. Each office provides our services in several states. Please see our Locations page.

EPR is committed to providing the highest quality products and services available. We achieve this with in-house trained, local staff and the ability to utilize personnel and manufacturing resources from our five locations when necessary to complete your job. This makes EPR your one-stop on-site electrostatic painting and office furniture refurbishing provider.

  • What is electrostatic painting?

Electrostatic painting is the spray process used to apply paint coatings to metal with virtually no overspray. Atomized paint particles are positively charged and are drawn to grounded metal objects. Atomization occurs due to centrifugal force rather than air assistance.

The electrostatic process comes with multiple benefits. There is a 95% greater transfer efficiency of the coatings which minimizes overspray and allows a factory-equivalent finish to be applied on the job site. A variety of OEM-equivalent, low VOC paint coatings can be applied electrostatically. These include two-component epoxies, polyurethanes, and fluoro-polymers. These coatings chemically “bake” to provide a durable finish without the use of ovens to “force cure” the paint.

See “The Paint” section on our Recycling page for more details. The electrostatic spray process provides uniform film thickness and consistent coating performance. The static charge creates a “wrap around” effect that provides improved paint coverage.

  • Is electrostatic painting harmful to the environment?

EPR offers many environmentally friendly or “green” products and services. Since the company’s inception in 1999, EPR has helped keep over 100,000 semi-trailers of office furniture from being landfilled. This was achieved by refurbishing used office furniture for the new and used office furniture dealers nationally. There are many other industries that have received benefits from the electrostatic painting services and materials EPR provides.

  • Is EPR a powder coater and what is the difference between electrostatic painting and powder coating?

Electrostatic painting with Ransburg #2 equipment is the most efficient spray process used to apply paint coatings to metal and other conductive substrates without creating overspray. Atomized paint particles are positively charged and are drawn to grounded metal objects. Atomization occurs due to centrifugal force and the electrostatic charge rather than air being introduced at the tip.

There is other, less efficient electrostatic spray process equipment available that can apply paint at a faster rate.  When the project demands, EPR uses a variety of electrostatic and non-electrostatic spray processes to provide the best value finish for our clients.

  • Does EPR buy or sell office furniture?

In addition to electrostatic painting, EPR provides wholesale refurbishing services to used office furniture dealers who keep an inventory and can provide wholesale-refurbished office furniture to our dealer customers who don’t keep an inventory.

When needed, EPR uses a network of office furniture brokers and dealers nationally to locate and provide the furniture and perform the refurbishing in the nearest location to the dealer.

EPR provides this wholesale service exclusively to office furniture dealers. For all businesses that need office furniture or that have excess furniture to dispose of or sell, EPR can recommend used-office furniture brokers and dealers to provide and/or purchase office furniture.

ELECTROSTATIC PAINTING AT YOUR LOCATION OR OURS:

When considering electrostatic painting at your facility, the EPR rep will most likely want to perform a site visit. They can discuss the following items and more with you before, after or in place of that visit. These items help EPR provide accurate pricing, the best coatings for your project and scheduling the work.

For interior electrostatic painting such as – Lockers, Elevator Doors, Stair Railings and more:

1.   Ventilation- Can the building’s ventilation system run continuously during, and for appx 4 hours after painting is completed?

2.   Lighting- Is the space where the electrostatic painting will take place well lit (such as standard office lighting) or shall EPR bring our supplemental lights?

3.   Work Space- Your EPR rep will likely ask to see the area that the electrostatic painting will take place to make sure there is good access to the items being painted. If that can’t take place, your rep will go over this specifically for your project.

4.   Power- Most standard building 110v outlets are adequate for the portable electrostatic equipment and the EPR rep should ask if there are outlets within 100’ of the work area. If not, the EPR crews can bring generators.

5.   Existing Coating- The EPR rep may want to test and inspect the existing finish for to help insure compatibility with the high performance coatings that are used in the electrostatic painting process.

6.   Paint Color and Finish- The EPR rep can provide samples of your preferred color and will go over the various sheens available. EPR can apply metallic coatings and can go over those options upon request.

7.   Other Trades- Please let your EPR rep know if there will be other work being performed at or near the same dates and areas where our crews will be working so a schedule that works for all can be determined.

For exterior electrostatic painting such as- Store Fronts, Playground Equipment, Ornamental and Chain Link Fence, Light Poles, HVAC and Generator Housings, etc:

Your EPR rep will likely want to visit the site and see the items to be electrostatically painted in part to see and possibly test the existing finish along with items 3, 4, 5 and 6 from the interior section above.

EPR Shop Painting:

For items that can be transported to an EPR Paint Shop:

1.) EPR charges less for same items in our paint shop than on site as we don’t have to mobilize our crews and our paint shops are already set up for painting. The savings will offset some or possibly all of your transportation costs.

2.) Interior painted items brought to an EPR paint shop means you don’t have to deal with your building ventilation or in some cases staff at your location while the work is being performed.

3.) EPR shops have a wider variety of High Performance Coatings and application methods than painting at your site. EPR paint shops can also apply paint more to than metal items. Discuss this with the rep.

4.) EPR can handle protecting the painted items for you with a variety of options including skidding for transport. Discuss this with the rep.
